We are currently seeking a dedicated Special Education Lead Teacher to guide our special education classroom and ensure that every child receives the individualized support they need.
Position Overview
The Special Education Lead Teacher will manage a special education classroom, working directly with young children who have special needs. The ideal candidate will have expertise in early childhood education and a strong foundation in special education practices. This role requires the ability to design and implement effective learning strategies, create a nurturing environment, and collaborate closely with families and other professionals to support the development of each child.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a special education classroom, creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the specific needs of each child.
- Provide differentiated instruction to address the diverse learning styles and abilities within the classroom.
- Regularly assess and monitor student progress, adjusting teaching strategies as needed to support each child’s development.
- Collaborate with parents, guardians, therapists, and other educational professionals to ensure comprehensive support for each student.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of student progress, IEPs, and any other required documentation.
- Stay informed on best practices in early childhood special education and engage in ongoing professional development.
- Ensure compliance with all state and local regulations related to special education and early childhood education
Qualifications
- Teacher Certification in Early Childhood Education (Birth - 2).
- AND Teacher Certification in Early Childhood Special Education (Birth - 2).
- Experience in leading a classroom, preferably with a focus on special education.
- Strong understanding of child development and special education strategies.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with students, families, and colleagues.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic environment.
- Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to supporting the unique needs of each child.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education or a related field.
- Experience working in a diverse, urban educational setting.
